First Tulip of the Year

I notice this little beauty after out walk this morning. I had to take a picture of it right away before the deer find it and nibble it down to the ground. Darn deer. Maybe I have tricked them since I have planted tulip bulbs up close to the front of the house. But there is no tricking those stinkin squirrels. I know I planted 150 tulip bulbs out front along the garage wall and I bet there aren't 50 left. There are actually five that are getting ready to bloom. I'll keep count and start researching now to see how I can plant tulip bulbs so the squirrels can't get them. Drives me crazy!!
