flower beds and veggie beds

I love taking a morning walk around the yard right after it rains and before the house is full of chaos.

Our squirrel with no tail met in the old pumpkin patch to say good morning, and then he was off.

The flowers we started from seed are coming along very well.

Ollie is always my sidekick.

Finally, the bed is filling in.

The new strawberry plants are looking like they are enjoying their new home.

Would you look at those potatoes and all those weeds?

Still lots of work to do here.

The old pumpkin patch will be the new home for basil and tomatoes.

This is a you are going to need to wait until the summer to clean me up.  It might take the better part of a week.

Giving my new ferns a drink from God's watering can.

The peonies are so heavy.

Been working out some things.  I find the best way to do it is to weed out everything!  So we have a start.  One problem...my allergies are working overtime.

We didn't think this oakleaf hydrangea would come back, but she did.

Someone suggested that I extend this bed out a bit in the front.  So I did.

Yes, we had to get more mulch.  I have a love-hate relationship with mulch.

This bed never looked better.

I've been waiting three years for this bed to fill in.  I'm thinking this is the year!

If the dogs would stop digging for all the chipmunks that live in this bed, I'd be super happy.

My new sitting, resting spot.  I'm trying to figure out what to plant in my washtub.

Another resting chair that we found up the street on trash day.

The peonies are beautiful this year.

Needing to add more color.

Snowdrops are always the first to bloom.

We have a variety of daffodil colors.

The little iris is always a surprise.

The second flowers to bloom are the crocus.

We cut the forsythia down to the ground last fall, and now it is starting to grow big and strong.

My Dad's tree, the purple magnolia, blooms.

hollyhocks

Hoping to figure out what is coming up under the bird feeder.

Lenten Roses

The Star magnolia, but I call it my snowflake tree.

The first flower arrangement.

According to the weather forecast, we're in for a bit of cold.  I haven't had time to bring in all the plant pots, so first thing Monday morning, they were moved inside.

I brought in as many plants as I could.  They are all over the house, some in some unusual spaces.  The laundry room is one.

I read somewhere that a lady trimmed all of her ferns and took them inside.  I thought that the laundry room might act ike a greenhouse because it is so warm in there.  I will water once a week and check progress.  I left the largest fern with new fronds and just trimmed the deadish stuff.

I used the cuttings to cover the newly transplanted hosta to keep them covered and warm all winter.

We shall see!

This could be the last time I see zinnias in bloom this year.  I checked the weather, and it is reported that we might get some snow on Monday.  Can you see me doing the happy dance!

I still haven't put a name to this beauty.  Does anyone have any idea?

You can tell that they are on their way out.

Vounnteer zinizs on the driveway.

This is a first.  My Thanksgiving cactus has blooms.  I'm walking on eggshells in hopes that they actually bloom.  If that happens, it will be my first time ever!!!

Thank you, wind, birds, or squirrels, for transporting these seeds for me!

Hopefully, this burning bush will learn that it can spread out and look pretty on all sides.
