While everyone enjoys time with the family, picnics, and fireworks, Mark and I opted to get up early to work in the shade and construct a trellis over one of the raised bed that holds all the winter squash.
We were stepping on the squash when we went to water the other beds. The vines were growing into Jumanji.
We had to get on the ladder in order to pound the stake.
(I was really careful and no one was injured in the construction)
Finished trellis. The vines were in a little bit of shell shock. In a few days, I hope they will begin climbing on their own.

I love it. I'm hoping it will do what we want it to. Now the wheels are turning with all three of us as to how to put raised beds in the Four Sisters area and in the corn patch...they are the only gardens not with raised beds. But that is for next year. And try to figure out how to put irrigation in those beds.
