Fencing In The Garden

If we want to have anything that resembles food that we have grown in the garden we had better put a high fence around it.  So we did!  We extended the split rail and then added welded wire on the inside that is taller than me (5'10').  Hopefully, the animals won't be able to get to the strawberries and asparagus this year.

Of course, it was raining when we decided it was time to lock the animals out of the garden area.  Micahel helped dig the holes with the post hole digger.  It is my least favorite farm implement ever!

I have been 'storing this old gate for years on the right side of the house.  I love it.  It has the coolest latch...like a closed horseshoe.  Mulching with 4 inches of chips so we don't have to mow in  there.

Plants planted.

Lots more strawberries this year.

Now just sitting back to watch nature at work.

NOTE:  The fencing worked well for two days.  Then one day they found a little space between the post and the gate...but I fixed them...I just set a big cool looking bucket in front of it and now one was been able to venture in yet.
