If the chickens have their way I may not have any hosta...or any flowers for that matter.

Monday Morning Walk

Just so happened that I just been given a pair of jeans that were split out.  Saw this on Pinterest and on FB.  heard about it from several people.  Just had to make one.  Simplest thing I have ever done.

A Few Pockets To Fill

. .
Just another backyard project...a path to the coops to keep from making a rut in the yard.  We have developed a little highway to and from the chickens to the backdoor.

We figured at 3-5 stones places a day we might have this project finished before the end of summer.  We have also come to realize that we aren't as young as we use to be.  Ten years ago we would have had this project knocked out in a day.  Oh well, we will have something to do for awhile.  This is summer 9 on our ten year plan.

Path Project

. Friday, April 3, 2015 .
Jut a small project that shouldn't take any time to complete...

Well, that is if you don't continually have to move all you stuff in the garage and back out every time it starts to rain.  Can't do it in the garage because there is a sick chicken and it would be way to stressful for her.

Mark's new toy...a Kreg Jig.  Pretty cool little contraption.

Almost finished...just need to drill in some holes for drainage.

Getting a little rinse off in the rain.

And wa-la the best little herb garden you could ever need.  Emmy cooks with lots of fresh herbs and I use lots of fresh herbs and flowers with the chickens.  Think it will work just fine.  Plus we have a little herb tower closer to the backdoor for easier access.

Just A Small Backyard Project

. .
Planted the herbs in old containers.  I've tried to keep everything that we will eat or use with the girls on one side of the yard so they can't get to it.  We will see how long that lasts.
12 asparagus plants
sage
thyme
parsley
cilantro
dill
lavender
rosemary

And what to my wondering eyes do I see but ASPARAGUS I planted last year coming up!  I am so excited!!!!!!!  Must be that good old rabbit poop I used to fertilize the beds all winter.

Herbs Planted...Check

. .
We haven't been able to work out in the yard on clean up for a few days because of rain.  Rain is a good thing.  Gives me rest and give the plants new life.  I walked around this evening to see what was new.

Forsythia is just starting to open up.

Lenten roses are right on schedule.

Our poor little scraggly magnolia will be busting out all over in a day or two.  Don't blink or you will miss it.

Daffodils of all colors in the front and back yards.  Thank goodness the deer don't like them.

Every year this come up and I can not for the life of me remember what they are.  They are in the ligularia family that much I think I remember.

Today I planted a Shirley Temple peony in honor and memory of my mother-in-law.  She loved Shirley Temple from the time she was a little girl until a few months ago.  Funny family story.
