I am amazed that we have flowers blooming!  That could change by the end of the week. The weatherman says that it is going to be down in the 40's!

Snapshots of Flowers In October

. Tuesday, September 10, 2013 .
Anyone have any idea what the name of this little beauty is?  I know I planted it as a small bulb.  And lits of very long green shoots came up and then all of a sudden this appeared.

Thank you birds!

 Two different Beauty Berry Bushes.

Could sink a battleship with all the cherry tomatoes we are getting.

I think it might be getting close to time to cut the cord so to speak.

Tonight I caned tomato chunks.

Still Plugging Along In This Heat

. Tuesday, August 27, 2013 .
We've some how acquired lots, pounds, tons of tomatoes so I found a recipe for tomato basil sauce which sounds really good.  Time consuming prep so it better be good!

Andy and Lizzie sent me some heirloom cherry tomatoes.  'they are a little larger that regular cherry tomatoes and so delicious!  I check on Pinterest about saving the seeds.  We are in the fermenting stage right now.

A Little More Canning

. .

The bottle tree is being covered with morning glories.

I finally saw a bloom on the trumpet vine.  We have wondered why it has never bloomed in all the years that we have had it.  Mark keeps saying it is because it doesn't get enough sun.  Nope I figured it out...the deer love them!  Look at all the naked stems where they ate the other blooms. Stupid  deer!

I was surprised to see the beauty berry bush so early.  Guess the deer don't care for beauty berries.

This is actually a house plant.  But it needs sun so I let it take a little breather outside once in awhile.  I think it is called a bromeliad.  And the basket was made from grapevine.  The Ellison's found it in Asheville, NC.

Flowers In August Surviving

. Sunday, August 18, 2013 .

Add five pints of really good hot salsa to the list of our accomplishments this summer.  We have already eaten one quart jar from the first batch and a pint from the last.  They both are equally as good.  Emmy even said the okra was good.

My Small Canning Shelf

. Tuesday, August 13, 2013 .
We are starting to see our labor paying off.  I have picked beans two or three times, peppers once, and there are okra on each stalk.  Today Doodles picked some cherry tomatoes.  And I think she has eaten all of them already.  And finally there are cucumbers coming on!

The Big Harvest

. .
This is what we found after coming home from vacation.

I'm thinking it might be a pumpkin.  Or it might be a yellow squash of some kind.  Guess we will just have to wait and see. Thank you birds or squirrels for planting the seed.

Mystery Vine

. Tuesday, July 30, 2013 .
We got a little bit of a late start but that's okay we are still making progress.

May not see any zucchini because the deer are eating all the blossoms!  Stinkin' deer!

Progress Is Being Made

. .
The blue door lives to see another season.  Complete with chicken wire that hopefully two clematis will vine up eventually.

Just from another angle.

I love my old coffee can but I think his days are numbered.

The black-eyed Susan's aren't doing so well this summer.

But the limelight hydrangea is blooming like a house on fire.

Love them but didn't plant them.

Hey Peep...you better go outside and look for your naked ladies.

There's A Rainbow In The Yard

. Sunday, June 23, 2013 .

Just volunteered to show up today. I never planted it. But the strange this is...it came up in Sarah Beth's garden...hmmm and Easter lily. How appropriate! Sarah Beth was the first one of us to experience Easter in heaven.

Hey, Look At Me

Next order of business...trellis for the cukes to climb.
